The Umeda Sky Building Sky Garden Observation Deck (1-1-88 Oyodonaka, Kita-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture) will hold a special sunrise viewing on January 1, 2026. To mark the occasion, a limited first-come, first-served offer for 250 people will be available on the official website from 12:00 p.m. on December 12. The price is 6,000 yen per person including admission ticket and souvenir.

The first sunrise opening is from 6:00 to 8:00 on New Year’s Day. Visitors are guided to the Hanging Garden Observatory during hours when they are not normally allowed to enter. At a height of 173 meters above the ground, visitors can see the first sunrise of the new year rising from the Ikoma mountain range.

The annual sake service will be held on the day of the event. Those who wish to drink will be served sake on the spot in an original Japanese cypress sake barrel, which will be available as a souvenir.

Also available this year is Zenzai with baked rice cake, a specialty of Bashodoh, a long-established Japanese confectionery established in 1868. This luxurious zenzai is made with homemade red bean paste, grilled rice cake, chestnuts, and strawbimochi, and each person can use one cup with the voucher included in the souvenir. The store’s popular “Warabimochi” (straw rice cake) in green tea kinako (soybean flour) flavor is also available as a gift.

In addition, limited edition New Year’s red seal paper for Takimi Inari Shrine, located in the Showa-era retro shopping street Takimi-koji on the basement floor of the Umeda Sky Building, will be distributed. The paper is said to bring good luck for prosperous business, and is decorated with a gorgeous design filled with lucky charms such as Senryobako, Manekineko (beckoning cat), and Uchide-no-Kozuchi (a small mallet).
