JR Tokai will implement a timetable revision on March 14, 2026. The main points of the revision are described here.
On the Tokaido Shinkansen, additional extra “Nozomi” trains will be provided on the downbound from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Tokyo Station and on the upbound from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Shin-Osaka Station. The number of trains per hour will be increased to a maximum of 13 trains per hour in combination with regular trains. In addition, some trains that operate between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka in 2 hours and 30 minutes will be shortened by 3 minutes.
The number of up trains will be augmented during the first departure period. The extra “Nozomi No. 548” train from Kyoto Station will depart from the same station, arriving at Tokyo Station 11 minutes earlier than the current train. The Nozomi No. 498, the first extra “Nozomi” train from Nagoya Station, will become a regular train as “Nozomi No. 288” and will be available every day. The first “Kodama” train from Nagoya, “Kodama No. 700,” will be extended to depart from Gifu-Hashima Station on certain days as a temporary train.
In addition, a temporary “Nozomi No. 206” train will be available from Hakata Station to Shinagawa later than the current last train to Tokyo, expanding the time passengers can stay along the line. One round-trip “Nozomi” train between Tokyo Station and Shin-Osaka/Okayama Station will be extended to/from Hiroshima Station on specific days.
On conventional lines, regular trains on the Taketoyo Line and Kansai Line will be standardized into 4-car trains (except “Mie”) by adding 315 Series trains. 4-car trains will be operated as one-man trains, but passengers will be able to get on and off from all doors.
On the Kansai Line, the Kameyama-bound rapid train departing from Nagoya Station at 17:00 will be changed to a sectional rapid train, and the next regular train to Kameyama will be shortened to Yokkaichi-bound. By moving up the departure time of the Toba-bound train, which connects this sectional rapid train to the Kameyama-bound train at Kameyama Station, passengers will be able to connect from Taki Station to the Shingu direction.
On the Iida Line, one-man operation will begin between Chubu Tenryu Station and Tenryukyo Station.
