The purpose of this agreement is for JICA and Climate Bonds to cooperate by sharing knowledge and experience on “transition finance,” a financial mechanism that supports the creation of a society resilient to climate change and the transition to a decarbonized society (transition).

Climate Bonds has been working to mobilize private-sector funding through the development of standards and certification schemes for bonds that help combat climate change. In August this year, Climate Bonds participated as a lecturer in the Clean Energy Training Program conducted by JICA and the Singapore government under the Japan-Singapore Partnership Programme for the 21st Century (JSPP21). Climate Bonds participated as a lecturer in the “Clean Energy Training” conducted by JICA and the Singapore government under the “Japan-Singapore Partnership Programme for the 21st Century (JSPP21),” introducing Japan’s Green Transformation (GX) promotion strategy and how to evaluate a credible transition plan. On the occasion of the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) being held in Belem, Brazil, JICA and Climate Bonds have decided to sign an agreement to further deepen their future collaboration.

JICA’s “JICA Sustainability Policy” states that JICA will support the overall social transitions in developing countries as well as realize a world that is resilient to climate change. Based on this agreement, JICA will work with development partners to make further contributions in developing regions.
