On November 5, Jiyuukokumin-sha announced the 30 nominees for the 42nd (2025) T&D Life Group New Words and Trendy Words Awards, selected by “Gendai-go no Kihonjou no Kihon” (Basic Knowledge of Modern Terms). The Top Ten and the annual Grand Prize will be decided on December 1.

The words that will be considered are new words and buzzwords from “Basic Knowledge of Modern Terminology 2026,” published on the same day. The nominees for this year’s competition are as follows
