JTB and JR Tokai will launch LUGGAGE EXPRESS, a same-day baggage delivery service using the Tokaido Shinkansen on November 1.
This service is available at some accommodations in Tokyo and Kyoto, and allows customers to drop off luggage at the departure point by 9:00 a.m. and pick it up at the arrival point by 6:00 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. on the same day. This service eliminates the need to carry luggage with you, allowing you to go sightseeing without it upon arrival at your destination. Deposit locations will also be set up at Tokyo and Kyoto stations.
Advance reservations through the official website are required for use, and reservations can be made until 8:00 a.m. on the day of the flight. The fee is 13,200 yen per piece for the regular flight arriving at 9:00 p.m. on the same day, and 16,500 yen per piece for the express flight arriving at 6:00 p.m.
The two companies will also consider expanding their services to Osaka and other areas in the future.
