JAL announced the “First Sunrise Flight” to be conducted on January 1, 2026.
Applications for the advance lottery will be accepted for Star Grade members of the JAL Life Status program at 2:00 p.m. on October 31. Applications for the general lottery will be accepted from 2:00 p.m. on November 12, and the fee will be disclosed on the special website at the time of application acceptance.
In 2026, in addition to the previous flights from Haneda, Narita, and Centrair, a flight from Kansai International Airport will be offered for the first time. Both itineraries will allow visitors to view the first sunrise of the new year in the sky and return to the airport around 8:00 a.m.
The flight will feature Eitaro Sohonshiki’s Kohaku Manju, Kamikawa Taisetsu Sake Brewery’s Jazz Tractions sake, as well as a packing organizer, tote bag, JAL’s original Daruma doll, flight tag at the departure airport and limited edition souvenirs, and an Osechi style bento for the in-flight meal.
