The APA Group has begun construction of APA Hotel Kusatsu Ekimae (tentative name), the first newly built hotel in Shiga Prefecture. The hotel is scheduled to open in the fall of 2027.

The APA Hotel Kusatsu Ekimae is part of a project to develop a land owned by JR West and Minami Kogyo adjacent to the west exit of JR Kusatsu Station into a building complex that will house a hotel, commercial facilities, and offices.

The 11-story building will have a front desk and lobby on the 1st floor and guest rooms on the 5th through 11th floors. The hotel will have 165 guest rooms, and the site area is 1,302.70 m2, with the adjacent Kusatsu Station located 21 minutes from Kyoto Station on the new rapid train and 51 minutes from Osaka Station.

The existing APA Hotels in Shiga Prefecture include the APA Hotel Biwako Seta Ekimae in Otsu City (109 rooms) and the APA Hotel Hikone Minami in Hikone City (52 rooms), and including the new Kusatsu Ekimae, there will be three buildings with 326 rooms.
