Myakmyak’s Shinkansen! EXPO-wrapped N700S goes into service one year before the opening of Expo ’70 in Osaka/Kansai

Posted on April 22, 2024 by News Admin

On April 13, JR Tokai began running bullet trains wrapped with the logo of the Osaka-Kansai Expo.

Aimed at building momentum one year before the opening of the Expo, the project was deployed on a single N700S train. The logo on the side of the door of every train car is a combination of “EXPO 2025” lettering and a fuzzy red ring, which is also the basis for the shape of the official character “Myakmyak”.

Cars No. 8, No. 9, and No. 11 are decorated with large 150 x 80 cm decorations, which stand out very well even through the platform doors.

Myakmyak has a red ring on its head and is blue all over, making it a perfect match for the Tokaido Shinkansen. Depending on one’s point of view, it could be said that this train itself looks like a Myakmyak.

The wrapping will run until October 2025, when the Expo closes.
