Posted on April 22, 2024 by News Admin

On April 17, Marriott International announced plans to rebrand seven hotels owned by HMI Hotel Group in Japan as Marriott Hotels and Courtyard by Marriott.

The following seven new facilities will be created.

Hamamatsu Marriott Hotel (now Grand Hotel Hamamatsu)

Kyoto Marriott Hotel (now Hotel Heian no Mori Kyoto)

Kobe Marriott Hotel (now Hotel Crown Palace Kobe)

Okinawa Marriott’s Ryzan Resort & Spa (now Ryzan Sea Park Hotel Tanicha Bay)

Courtyard by Marriott Kobe (now Hotel Pearl City Kobe)

Courtyard by Marriott Kokura (now Hotel Crown Palace Kokura)

Courtyard by Marriott Kitakyushu (now Hotel Crown Palace Kitakyushu)

Marriott currently operates 95 hotels under 20 brands in Japan, and this is its first entry into Hamamatsu City and Kitakyushu City. The seven hotels to be rebranded, each with approximately 2,200 rooms, will undergo a series of renovations and will open between the fall of 2025 and 2026.

Mr. Ryutora Hira, President of Hotel Management International, who spoke at the signing ceremony, introduced the seven hotels to be rebranded and recalled that the company has “invested the largest amount in Japan as an Indian capital company and contributed to the development of the tourism industry. He also explained that the Indian market, which has the world’s largest population, surpassing China, holds great promise for the company’s efforts to attract visitors from India, given the current strong inbound demand.

Rajeev Menon, President of Marriott International Asia Pacific, commenting on the conversion of the seven properties announced in the partnership to Marriott, said, “The current travel momentum is not limited to metropolitan areas. From here, we will see a full-fledged increase in foreign travelers visiting smaller cities,” he emphasized, and expressed hope that the rebranded properties will take off.
