Nexeria East Japan and NEXCO East Japan held an award ceremony in Tokyo for the “Highway Meal Koshien” to determine the No. 1 highway SA/PA gourmet in their jurisdiction.

Foreign Deb, who serves as an ambassador, makes an appearance.

After the awards ceremony, Foreign Deb, the ambassador of the event, took the stage and tasted the first three prize-winning gourmet dishes on stage. He and the chefs who brought the menus to the event had an in-depth discussion about the deliciousness of the dishes.

After the meal, Mr. Hasshi said, “The three menus all had a regional flavor, and since SA/PAs are rooted in the community, they know more about the local delicacies than anyone else, and have the skills to use them. That’s why I felt it was worth the trip to the area!” he said in his general comment.

Mr. Hashish then announced three special awards, the “Hashish Awards. One of them, the “SNS Batting Point King,” was awarded to “SUGO! Beef tongue hamburger steak set meal,” which came in second overall at the Highway Meal Koshien, making it a double winner.

Mr. Hashimoto announced the three prizes named after baseball, as well as the reasons for their selection, as follows.

Home Run King ・Hokuriku Expressway Yoneyama SA (downhill) “Niigata Umakara-don” (Niigata Umakara rice bowl)

Yoneyama SA is famous for its mackerel sandwiches, and the reason for the award is the volume of the fried mackerel, Niigata’s local delicacy tare katsu (deep-fried pork cutlet), and maitake mushroom tempura, three fried items on top.

King with the most hits ・Jyoshinetsu Expressway Yokogawa SA (downhill) “Jyoshu Shimonita Negi Miso Katsu Katsu-don”.

A unique twist on Gunma’s local donburi sauce katsudon with a twist of green onion miso made with Shimonita green onions, which is unique to Gunma. The menu is a big hit, with as many as 1,500 bowls being served per month.
