Bosai Revolution (bosai_kakumei) is selling “Water Drop Light,” an LED light that lights up with water, on Make (makuake).

The planned general sales price is 1,100 yen per piece, and the company will handle 2, 5, 10, and 20 piece sets, etc. Products will be shipped by the end of August. 30% of the purchase price will be donated to the Ishikawa Prefecture Noto Peninsula 2024 Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund.

Weighing 21g and measuring 7.5 x 11.5 x 5.5cm when 14 pieces are stored in the palm of your hand, it is equipped with two LEDs and has an illuminance of approximately 1000 lux (at a distance of 30cm from the light source) when in use.

The power source is a magnesium metal air battery, which lights up when immersed in a small amount of water for 2 seconds. If water is not available, saliva or urine can be substituted.

They can also be used as lighting if fixed with tape, or as lanterns for a week or more when combined with plastic bottles, and can be stored for 10 years or more.
