Tokyu Bus to operate the “Tandem Liner” articulated bus in Aoba Ward, Yokohama City, starting in April.

Posted on March 12, 2024 by News Admin

Yokohama City and Tokyu Bus will begin operation of the “Tandem Liner,” a articulated bus with two bodies connected into one, on April 1 on the Tokyu Bus Blue 61 route. In conjunction with this, some bus routes in the northwestern part of Aoba Ward will be reorganized.

Operation of the “Tandem Liner” articulated bus

The A61 bus line is a heavily used route connecting Aobadai Station on the Tokyu Denentoshi Line and the Yokohama-Kenshidai Campus of the Nippon Sport and Sport University. The “Tandem Liner” is approximately 1.8 times longer and has 1.5 times the capacity of a regular bus, allowing the number of services to be reduced while improving transportation capacity.

The name “Tandem Liner” is derived from the English word “tandem,” meaning “two joined into one,” and its body color is based on the new 2020 Series train running on the Tokyu Denentoshi Line.
