Penang Island was an attractive island with UNESCO cultural heritage city, reflection spots, beach resorts, and natural beauty!

Enjoy local delicacies at hawker stalls. The hawker center is a convenient place to enjoy local food in Malaysia. This time we stopped by New World Park Food City, which is located in a shopping mall called Shinsegae. At a quick glance, there are more than 20 stalls, each offering their own specialties. I ordered hocken mee, which is a Penang-style dish. It is interesting to note that the dish served in Kuala Lumpur is completely different from the one in Penang, even though they have the same name. Penang’s hocken mee is said to contain two types of noodles by default, beef and egg noodles, and each type of noodle has its own unique texture. And this goes well with the shrimp broth. If you want a spicy taste, dissolve some sambal in the soup and eat it! It is said that the taste varies from restaurant to restaurant, so it would be interesting to try different kinds of food.

Penang Island, where you can also spend a relaxing time at a beach resort. We stayed at the Lone Pine, Penang, A Tribute Portfolio Resort, which was rebranded as a Marriott-owned hotel in 2023. It is a resort hotel. There are numerous lodging facilities on the island of Penang, but the resort hotels are concentrated along the northern beaches, and Lone Pine is one of them. The Lone Pine was established in 1948, and is well known as a dignified and well-established hotel in the area, and has received many Malaysian hotel awards. The well-maintained rooms, beautiful garden, and the Straits of Malacca (the Straits are a vast expanse of ocean) beyond make for a relaxing change from the bustle of George Town. Unfortunately, our stay was short and we did not have much time to relax. I did not use the bathtub on the balcony, so I would definitely like to return next time.
