The auxiliary Route 229 is an urban planning road extending approximately 10.2 km from Asahigaoka 1-chome, Nerima-ku to Sekimachi Minami 4-chome, Nerima-ku, Tokyo. Of this road, the 290-meter stretch (between Shimo-shakujijii 4-chome, Nerima-ku and Kamishakujii Minami-cho, Nerima-ku) that intersects the Seibu Shinjuku Line will be constructed with a planned width of 20 m. The road is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.

The roadway will have two lanes with sidewalks on both sides. The roadway will also have no power poles and trees will be planted along the street. The alignment of the railroad crossing at the intersection with the Seibu Shinjuku Line will be improved to facilitate traffic and improve visibility at the intersection.

The project period is from FY2023 to FY2040, and the project cost is 1.6 billion yen.
