Strollers modeled after the Hokuriku Shinkansen “E7 Series Kagayaki” are available for rent at 10 locations, including Tokyo and Kanazawa stations, from 500 yen per hour.

JRE Stroller Sharing Limited Liability Partnership will begin renting the “E7 Series Kagayaki” model on March 16 for its “Babycal” stroller rental service.

This is the second original stroller featuring the Shinkansen, a popular train for small children, and was jointly developed with the baby goods brand Combi. The strollers will be available at 10 Baby Car Stations (see below), including stations on the Hokuriku and Joetsu Shinkansen lines, in conjunction with the opening of the Kanazawa to Tsuruga extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen line.

The stroller can be used from one month to 36 months of age (weighing 15 kg or less), and while it is lightweight at 5.2 kg, the entire seat is equipped with Eggshock, a shock-absorbing material that prevents eggs from breaking even if dropped, to reduce irregular shaking from the road surface that is transmitted to the baby.

In reference to the Shinkansen E7 series, whose concept is sophistication and spaciousness, the large top protecting the baby from the sun is decorated with Japanese-style sky blue, ivory white, and copper colors.

Rental rates are 500 yen for the first hour (100 yen per 30 minutes thereafter), and up to 1500 yen for 12 hours (100 yen per 30 minutes thereafter).

To make a reservation, register as a member on the official BabyCal website and select the date, time, and location. On the day of the reservation, present the reservation code to the staff.
