JR East will offer a special discount on the number of points for exchange of “Shinkansen e-Ticket (JRE POINT Privilege)”, which allows the exchange of JRE POINT for Shinkansen e-Ticket, only for the Joetsu Shinkansen “Toki” and “Tanigawa” trains.
The period of use is from April 6 to 25, and passengers can exchange seats from 10:00 a.m. one month prior to the boarding date until 23:24, four minutes prior to the departure time of the train on the boarding date. Only reserved seats in the standard car are eligible for this service.
As a result, travelers will be able to use 2000 points instead of the usual 2160 points for travel distances of 0 to 100 km, such as Takasaki to Echigo-Yuzawa; 3000 points instead of the usual 4620 points for travel distances of 101 to 200 km, such as Tokyo to Echigo-Yuzawa, Takasaki to Nagaoka; and 4000 points instead of the usual 7940 points for travel distances of 201 to 400 km, such as Tokyo to Gala-Yuzawa, Tokyo and Omiya to Niigata. The standard fare for sections of 201 to 400 km, such as Tokyo to Gala-Yuzawa, Tokyo/Omiya to Niigata, etc., requires 4,000 points instead of 7,940 points.
