Choshi, Chiba Prefecture, is located at the easternmost tip of the Kanto region, and Choshi Fishing Port is a port with a large volume of fish catch. It is also known for its soy sauce, which has been brewed here since the Edo period (1603-1868).
The Choshi Electric Railway is probably the most famous of them all. Many people must have heard about the company’s revival from the crisis of the closure of the railway line, as it was introduced on TV for its “Nure-sembei” (rice crackers with soy sauce). Nowadays, the company’s additional income is more than that of the railroad, and it is said to have turned into the black. In this issue, I would like to show you some photos of Inubozaki in Choshi and Choshi Electric Railway, where a little snow still remains.
The Choshi Electric Railway line is a single-track line from Choshi Station to Sotogawa via Inubozaki, running 6.4 km in 20 minutes each way, with a total of 10 stations.
If you are going to Choshi by train, take the JR Sobu Line to Choshi Station and transfer to the Choshi Electric Railway. If you are going by car, leave your car at the toll parking lot near Choshi Station or at the free parking lots at Inubo Station or Togawa Station, and enjoy your trip on the Choshi Electric Railway.
