Kinki Nippon Tourist Co., Ltd. has begun selling tickets for “Hikone Castle Nighttime Special Public Viewing: NAKED Hikone Festival 2024 Sakura Supported by Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group. The price is 1,000 yen for adults, 500 yen for elementary and junior high school students, and free for preschool children.
The event will be held at Hikone Castle (1-1 Kinkame-cho, Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture) from March 22 to 31 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
A cherry blossom version of the “DANDELION PROJECT,” a participatory art project by Naked and artist Ryotaro Muramatsu, will appear in the keep, which was completed in 1606 and is designated as a national treasure.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the cherry blossoms painted by Hikone City children as they spread from the stone walls to the entire castle tower, which is dyed in gorgeous cherry blossom colors.
The Nishinomaru and Kanenomaru areas will also be illuminated at night with real cherry blossoms.
