Tokyu Corporation will operate a Shinkansen-designed wrapping train from March 4.

The Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line Shin-Yokohama Station to the Tokaido/Sanyo Shinkansen to promote excursions to the Chubu, Kansai, and Sanyo regions, planned with the full cooperation of JR Tokai.

The sides of one 3020 Series train (8-car formation) used on the Meguro Line will be decorated with two blue lines, the same as those on the Shinkansen, as well as stickers that remind passengers of areas in western Japan and campaign stickers for Tokyu Corporation’s “enjoy WEST” promotion. In addition, a sticker reminding passengers of the areas in Western Japan and a sticker promoting Tokyu Corporation’s “enjoy WEST” campaign will be affixed to the front of each train car.

The service area includes the Sotetsu Main Line, Sotetsu Izumino Line, Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line, Tokyu Meguro Line, Tokyo Metro Namboku Line, Saitama Kosoku Railway Saitama Stadium Line, and Toei Mita Line.

In cooperation with Sotetsu, JR Tokai, JR West, and Hankyu, a video and posters based on the concept of “the five railroad companies of the East and West are connected” will be displayed in Tokyu Corporation trains and stations including this wrapping train from March 4, 2011. The key visuals will feature employees of the five companies, and will also depict the connections between people and the tourist attractions and specialties of each region.
