Posted on February 27, 2024 by News Admin

Tokyo BRT will launch a touch-payment boarding service using credit cards and other means on March 1 for all Tokyo BRT lines running in the waterfront area.

BRT is an abbreviation for “Bus Rapid Transit. BRT refers to a transit system that ensures transportation capacity, timeliness, and speed comparable to streetcars and other vehicles by establishing interconnected buses and running lanes.

By touching a touch-sensitive card (credit/debit/prepaid) or a smartphone with the card installed, passengers can smoothly board the train. Six credit card brands are available: Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay. The history of touch payment can be checked from “Q-move” provided by QUADRAC.

Six companies are participating in this service: Tokyo BRT, Keisei Bus, Sumitomo Mitsui Card, JCB, Reship, and QUADRAC. The service utilizes Sumitomo Mitsui Card’s “stera transit” payment solution for public transportation.
