Widen Omori Station West Exit Plaza and Ikegami Dori to 20-30 m without power poles. Separate traffic from buses and cabs

Posted on February 20, 2024 by News Admin

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced on February 19 that it has started work on Auxiliary Route 28 (Ikegami-dori) from Sanno 1-chome to Sanno 3-chome, Ota-ku, Tokyo. The length of the road is 530m.

The 15m wide street at the Omori Station West Exit Plaza will be widened to 20-30m, with two lanes (9.0m) and sidewalks (5.5m + 5.5m) on both sides, as well as no power poles and planting.

In addition, the main line separation portion of the bus boarding/exiting area will have three lanes of bus boarding/exiting space (20.0 m) on the two-lane main line, with sidewalks (5.0 m + 5.0 m) on both sides of the bus boarding/exiting space.

The project aims to reduce congestion in front of the station by separating the main line and traffic by providing space for buses, cabs, and cargo handling vehicles, as well as to improve disaster prevention by consolidating bus stops and eliminating power poles.

The project period is from FY2023 to FY2032.
