The Forbes Travel Guide announced its 2024 awards list on February 7 (local time).
The following 18 facilities received 5 stars in Japan. The breakdown is: 9 hotels in Tokyo, 2 in Kyoto, 1 in Osaka, and 1 in Okinawa; 1 restaurant in Tokyo; 3 spas in Tokyo, and 1 in Okinawa.
Restaurants in Japan were included in the judging this year, with The Okura Tokyo’s French cuisine “Nouvelle Epoque” being the only restaurant to receive five stars. The Spa at Palace Hotel Tokyo’s Evian Spa, The Peninsula Tokyo’s The Peninsula Spa, Mandarin Oriental Tokyo’s The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, and Halekulani Okinawa’s Spa Halekulani each received a five-star rating.
