JR East, Sendai Terminal Building, and JR East Logistics will launch a delivery service in the Sendai area on February 1, using the Shinkansen bullet train luggage transport service “Hakobune”.
The JR East Group has been offering the “JRE Hand-Luggage Travel” service, which allows passengers to travel light on the train. In addition to rental service experiments at participating stations, the Group is also offering same-day delivery of checked luggage at Hotel Mets Niigata and Hotel Metropolitan Morioka, among others.
Following the existing service in the Niigata and Morioka areas, Hotel Metropolitan Sendai (Honkan and East) will newly launch this service. Guests using the Shinkansen or other trains from Sendai Station can drop off their baggage at the hotel front desk when checking out (by 11:30 a.m. on the day they want it delivered) and pick it up at the designated baggage storage area at Tokyo Station on the same day (between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.).
The fee is 2,000 yen per piece of baggage, and the total of the three dimensions must not exceed 160 cm and the weight must not exceed 30 kg.
