JR East Japan Planning has installed a new symbolic “Ueno-Hirokoji-guchi Vision” at the Ueno Station Hirokoji-guchi Station Square, which began airing today, January 24, 2012.
It was installed next to the facade of the second Ueno Station building, which was completed in 1932. It is one of the largest outdoor signage systems developed by the company, with a height of 5 m, a width of 9.5 m, and a curved surface angle of 110 degrees, making it suitable for 3D video broadcasting.
The 10-minute roller screen regularly displays time signals and original content utilizing the panda, the symbol of Ueno, from 7:00 to 23:00. The station square adjacent to the “Ueno-Hirokoji Exit Vision” will also be developed and used as an event space.
