On January 24, JAL introduced the new Airbus A350-1000 on its Haneda-New York route (JL005/006), and held a ceremony on its first flight.

JAL’s A350-1000 is the flagship aircraft for international flights, replacing the existing Boeing 777-300ER, with all classes of seating redesigned.

In addition to 6 seats in First Class and 54 seats in Business Class, which are the company’s first seats with private cabin-style seating, there are 24 seats in Premium Economy Class with electric recliners and 155 seats in Economy Class with pre-folding backrests, for a total of 239 seats. In addition, all seats have personal monitors with 4K resolution and support for connection of hand-held Bluetooth headphones/earphones.

Speaking at the ceremony in front of Gate 112 of Terminal 3, Yuji Akasaka, Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer, said that the new aircraft “has several features” that make it fuel-efficient and decarbonized, reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by about 25% compared to the previous 777, and adding, “It is a large aircraft with It has a very roomy cabin. The seats have also changed, but the interior and the cabin are also different. The seats have changed, but the interior, meals, and in-flight entertainment have also been redesigned. It’s a long flight to New York, so I hope you will enjoy it to the fullest,” he said, introducing the appeal of the A350-1000 aircraft and its services.

In the First Class Lounge, a New York cheesecake was served in honor of the New York route, shoe polishing service has started in earnest, and hand-drip coffee service has started at the bar counter “JAL’s SALON” on the 5th floor. The company has also begun offering hand-drip coffee service at the “JAL’s SALON” bar counter on the fifth floor. The shoe polish and hand-drip coffee service is also being offered at JAL’s SALON, a bar counter on the 5th floor, where staff from JAL SUNLIGHT, which supports flight operations together with employees with disabilities, are deeply involved.

The second aircraft has already arrived in Japan on January 14, and will be deployed on the Haneda-Dallas-Fort Worth route once the third aircraft is received.
