The final event of “Mongolia Open Innovation and Co-Creation for SDGs (MICS) 2023” will be held in Ulaanbaatar, MICS is a newly launched program this year that supports a wide range of stakeholders from industry, government, and academia in Japan and Mongolia to co-create and collaborate on innovative solutions to solve social issues and achieve the SDGs by bringing together technologies, ideas, and funds.

The kick-off event on August 17 was attended by 390 organizations (500 people) from Japan and Mongolia, including start-ups, financial institutions, educational and research institutions, and NGOs, and 91 collaborative project proposals were submitted. At the end of the event, 10 collaborative projects were selected, and JICA is supporting them from September 2023 to February 2024 through mentoring and partial subsidies for travel expenses between Japan and Mongolia. In addition, five of these collaborative projects are partially supported by JICA and sponsoring companies to cover implementation costs.

The final event will be held on February 6 and will include pitches by each of the 10 project teams, awards for outstanding projects, and networking with participants.
