The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced that a section of Tokyo Urban Planning Highway Trunk Route No. 35, which is under construction, will tentatively open to traffic at 16:00 on February 24.
The tentatively opened section is a 570-meter main road from Heiwadai 4-chome to Kitamachi 7-chome in Nerima Ward, including the Heiwadai Tunnel (197 m), with one lane each for the up and down lines.
It is expected to improve safety by facilitating traffic and disaster prevention through a multi-level intersection with Loop Route 8, as well as by reducing the amount of through traffic flowing into residential roads.
The project period for Radiation No. 35 is from 2004 to 2023 (extension planned), with a length of 1,330 m and a width of 40 to 50 m. The project cost is approximately 37 billion yen.
