LTER will open a “Pochacco Cafe” from February 2 to March 10 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Sanrio’s popular “Pochacco” character. The two locations are “BOX cafe & space Q Plaza Harajuku” (6-28-6 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) and “Collabo_Index SHINSAIBASHI” (1-6-1 Shinsaibashisuji, Chuo-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture).
Pochakko, whose birthday falls on February 29 (a leap year), is a curious canine boy who loves to take side trips. In the Sanrio Character Awards, a popularity contest, Pochakko won the top five positions for five consecutive years from 1991 to 1995 and has been a regular in the top five in recent years, ranking fourth in 2023.
This time, the theme is banana ice cream, a favorite of Pochacco, and the café is designed to look like a “banana ice cream specialty store. All menu items will be made with bananas, including a gorgeous Anniversary menu, curry with banana chutney, sundaes and waffles for dessert, and more.
There are also drinks such as banana shakes, banana lassis, and banana lattes, so that customers can enjoy Pochacco’s dream of “eating a full belly of banana ice cream” together.
