The name of the regionally linked IC card to be introduced in Hamadori and Southern Fukushima Prefecture is “LOCOCA”. Service to begin this spring.

Shin Joban Kotsu and JR Bus Kanto have decided on “LOCOCA” as the name of the regionally linked IC card to be introduced around spring 2024 in the Hamadori and Kenan areas of Fukushima Prefecture.

LOCOCA is a 2-in-1 card that offers a variety of discounts and bus commuter passes and other services unique to the region, as well as electronic money and Suica functions. The LOCOCA card can be used for all general route buses in the Hamadori area operated by Joban Kotsu and general route buses in the south of the prefecture operated by JR Bus Kanto.

The name is a reference to the “local card” and the Hawaiian word “loco,” meaning “local. The card depicts an “L” and a “C” facing each other with a smile, expressing how many people are smiling. The design also depicts the two overlapping to form the outline of Fukushima Prefecture and a single smile.
