ITOCHU Announces Signing of Yen Credit Loan Agreement for Vietnam: Contributing to Reduction of Traffic Congestion and Air Pollution and Development of Local Economy through Railway Improvements | News & Media

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Yen Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Hanoi on December 29, 2012, for the “Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Construction Project (Ben Thanh – Xuoi Tien (Line 1) (IV)” up to 41,223.7 million yen. Loan Agreement (L/A) for “Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Construction Project (Ben Thanh – Suoi Thien (Line 1) (IV)”.

This project will contribute to alleviating traffic congestion and air pollution in the Ho Chi Minh City metropolitan area and developing the local economy by constructing an urban railroad connecting Ben Thanh and Suoi Thien in Ho Chi Minh City, thereby contributing to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goal 9 (Create a foundation for industry and technological innovation), Goal 11 (Create a livable city), and Goal 13 (Take concrete measures against climate change). (Create cities that are livable), and Goal 13 (Take concrete measures to address climate change).

The Japanese technology utilization condition (STEP) (Note) is applied to the yen loan for this project, and Japanese technologies for railroad civil engineering, rolling stock, electrical, communication and signaling systems, maintenance and management, etc. are utilized in the underground section, rolling stock, IT systems, etc. to be developed in this project.
