The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and the Japan Meteorological Agency are calling for caution as the winter pressure pattern strengthens from December 21 to 22, with the possibility of heavy snowfall on the Sea of Japan side of western to northern Japan.
The northern Kyushu region to the Sea of Japan side of the Kinki region and Gifu Prefecture in the Tokai region are likely to experience heavy snowfall at the warning level for the first time this season.
In the event of heavy snowfall, the government urges people to refrain from going out unnecessarily and, if they have no other choice but to drive, to install winter tires and carry chains, shovels, sand, etc.
