Pre-Eco on the new JAL aircraft, which has been clearly upgraded! The world’s first electric recliner with legrests that go up to horizontal I saw the first A350-1000

On December 13 (local time), JAL and Airbus unveiled the actual A350-1000, JAL’s new international aircraft, in Toulouse, France. The aircraft will enter service on January 24, 2024, on routes from Haneda to New York (JL006/JL005).

The interior of the aircraft will be designed with traditional Japanese beauty in mind, in keeping with the interior of the A350-900 aircraft already in service on domestic routes and the domestic-spec Boeing 787-8 aircraft. All classes of seats have been redesigned, with a total of 239 seats, including 6 first class seats, 54 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 155 economy seats.

Premium Economy Class has 24 seats in a 2-3-2 configuration. JAL explains that there is a general tendency for passengers to fly economy class when they want to spend more money, and business class when they are traveling for business or on an extravagant budget, and that the company was unable to fully understand the needs at the time of the introduction of the 777. JAL says that when it introduced the 777, it was not able to fully understand the needs of its customers.

The new seats on the A350-1000 are clearly a grade higher than those in Economy Class, with a maximum seat width of 48 cm and a seat pitch of 107 cm (the A350-1000’s Economy Class seat width is 46 cm and the seat pitch is 84 to 86 cm). ). In addition, a large retractable partition provides greater privacy, and aisle seats are equipped with an inverted triangular privacy wing next to the headrest. The aisle seat has an inverted triangle privacy wing next to the headrest.

In addition, the reclining mechanism is the first in the world to be electrically powered. This is in response to feedback from users that the existing manual reclining system does not require much force when lowering the recliner, but it does require force when returning it to its original position.

It is equipped with a footrest, but what is noteworthy is that the legrests can be raised to a horizontal position. Although the legrests are not long enough for an adult height person to stretch out his or her legs and use the seat as a flat surface, they allow a much greater degree of freedom below the knees, which may be used in various ways, such as sitting cross-legged or sitting on the floor (if it does not bother the neighbors). See the separate photo for the atmosphere when the backrest is folded down to the maximum. The seats in the Pre-Eco have a fixed backrest that does not affect the seats behind you, so you can relax without hesitation.

The personal monitor is 16″ with 4K resolution. It also supports Bluetooth connectivity for use of hand-held headphones/earbuds. The space under the armrest is equipped with a universal power outlet and USB Type-A/C charging port, which can be used with an A4-size table or tablet stand without worrying about battery power.
