Posted on December 15, 2023 by News Admin

The JR Group will implement a timetable revision on March 18, 2023. The main points of the revision are described here.

The Hokuriku Shinkansen between Kanazawa and Tsuruga Stations will be in service, with nine round-trip “Kagayaki” and five round-trip “Hakutaka” trains to and from Tokyo Station, and the “Tsurugi” sectional train. The “Thunderbird” and “Shirasagi” limited express trains on conventional lines will both depart from and arrive at Tsuruga Station, and all seats will be reserved.

On the Yamagata Shinkansen, the new E8 Series train with a maximum speed of 300 km/h will be used on some trains. On the Joetsu Shinkansen, the last train will be moved up as previously announced.

As of the timetable revision, all limited express trains in the Boso direction, “Shiosai,” “Wakashio” and “Sazanami,” will have all reserved seats, and will start offering the same unassigned seat ticket service as “Azusa” and other trains. In addition, the fares for “Narita Express” trains on the section that does not include Narita Airport Station and Airport Terminal 2 Station will be the same as those for other trains on the same section.

JR West has expanded its seated commuter service between the Osaka and Nara areas. The “Kaisoku Oshiroshito,” reserved seats provided on some rapid trains, will also be available on the Osaka-Higashi Line, and the “Rakuraku Yamato” limited express train will be newly established between Osaka and Tennoji stations and Nara station via the Yamato Line.

In addition, the discount for transferring between the Shinkansen and local lines will be discontinued with the timetable revision.
