On December 5, USJ announced the name of the new area under construction at Universal Studios Japan’s Super Nintendo World as “Donkey Kong Country,” which will open in spring 2024.
Since its birth in 1981, Nintendo’s arcade game Donkey Kong has been a popular game series released on the Family Computer, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Wii, and Nintendo Switch.
With the opening of the new Donkey Kong Country area, the area of Super Nintendo World will be expanded by approximately 1.7 times. Visitors will be able to experience the world of Donkey Kong with their whole body in a magnificent space with lush green jungle. A new coaster-type ride attraction, “Donkey Kong’s Crazy Trolley,” will run through the area, and food and merchandise featuring the character will also be available.
