Keio Electric Railway to Introduce Touch Payment at All Stations by the End of FY2024. Seamless trips to Mt.

Posted on December 14, 2023 by News Admin

Keio Corporation, Sumitomo Mitsui Card, Visa Worldwide Japan, JCB, OMRON SOCIAL SOLUTIONS, and QUADRAC will conduct a verification experiment on a new train service by introducing credit card touch payment and other services at Keio Corporation stations.

The system will utilize touch-sensitive cards (credit, debit, and prepaid cards), smartphones and other devices equipped with such cards, and QR codes, and will be launched at some Keio Railway stations during FY2023 (to be announced later) and at all stations within FY2024.

Brands supported for touch payment are Visa, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay, with Mastercard to be added in due course.

The company aims to provide a seamless and more convenient ride service for not only residents along the Keio Line, but also for domestic and international users who travel to Mt. Takao, a popular tourist destination, with the familiar touch payment and a single smartphone.
