Otaru Tourist Association and Otaru Canal 100 Year Project Executive Committee will hold “Night Carnival” on December 23 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. as a finale for 2023, the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Otaru Canal.
The venue is “Otaru Port No. 3 Pier Special Site” (3 Minato-cho, Otaru City). Admission is 5,000 yen in advance for adults (junior high school students and older) and 6,000 yen at the door. Admission for elementary school students and younger is ¥2,500 in advance or ¥3,000 at the door, and children under 2 years old are free.
Fifteen kitchen cars will be set up in the special venue decorated with Christmas decorations, and 100 free meals each will be served (regular sales are scheduled after 100 meals are served). In addition, Lutao, a popular Otaru confectioner, will distribute a Christmas limited package langue d’ocha assortment, and the menu will also be available for purchase at the management headquarters tent.
At 7:00 p.m., a commemorative fireworks display is scheduled to be launched to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Otaru Canal. Otaru Ushio Taiko will also perform on stage to enhance the fireworks performance.
