Walt Disney Japan will release a series of Mickey & Friends Daruma dolls as New Year’s items.
Disney Flagship Tokyo, Disney Store Tokyo Disney Resort Store, and DisneyStore.jp will start carrying them on November 28. Each store will begin handling the products on December 1.
The “Shirakawa Daruma Sohonpo” Daruma (1,400 yen each) to be released this time are items jointly planned with “Shirakawa Daruma Sohonpo,” which has a history of about 300 years in Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture.
Mickey Mouse and his friends are made into Daruma dolls with a motif of New Year’s lucky charms such as Kagamimochi (mirror-shaped rice cake), Fujiyama (Mt. Fuji), and cranes and turtles. Each Daruma doll is handmade with care and is full of a special feeling. The different expressions make them perfect for collecting. It is a must-have item to display in a collection.
Also available exclusively at Disney Flagship Tokyo is a “Shirakawa Daruma” capsule toy with a Mickey Mouse motif. The toys are so cute that you will want to collect them in all colors for 1,100 yen each. Other New Year’s items such as kadomatsu, shimekari, kagamimochi, and pochibukuro sets will also be available.
