The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Record of Discussions (R/D) with the Philippine government on November 10 in Davao City on the “Metro Davao Area Comprehensive and Sustainable Urban Development Master Plan Formulation Project,” a development planning study-type technical cooperation.
The Metro Davao area (population 3.34 million (2020), area 6,491 km2) is the third largest metropolitan area in the Philippines, and with the rapid increase in population and land demand and worsening urban problems in mind, it is considered necessary to formulate a long-term regional development plan and develop infrastructure based on this plan, with a view to desirable future development. The Philippines is the third largest metropolitan area in the Philippines.
