HOTEL R9 The Yard Nagahama, a container hotel that can be relocated in the event of a disaster, opens in Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture.

Develop will open a container hotel, HOTEL R9 The Yard Nagahama (5-17 Minamitakada-cho, Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture), on December 13. Reservations will be accepted from 3:00 p.m. on December 6.

Located about a 12-minute walk from Nagahama Station on the JR Biwako Line and about a 10-minute drive from the Nagahama Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway and industrial parks such as “Nagahama Bio Incubation Center. Nearby are tourist attractions such as “Kurokabe Square” and “Nagahama Railway Square,” as well as a landing place for Chikubujima cruises.

There are 34 guest rooms in total, of which two types are available: double rooms and twin rooms. The rooms are made of architectural container modules and do not have walls that contact neighboring rooms, thus maintaining quietness and privacy. In addition, the 13m2 rooms are equipped with Simmons beds, unit bath, refrigerator/freezer, microwave oven, and humidifying air purifier, providing a simple yet comfortable environment.

Rates per night range from 6200 yen per person/ 8700 yen per person for a double room, and from 6200 yen per person/ 9700 yen per person for a twin room.

The Nagahama branch is the third in the “HOTEL R9 The Yard” series to open in the prefecture, following the Higashiomi and Koka branches. In the event of an emergency, the hotel will serve as a “rescue hotel” and disaster prevention center, and can also be relocated as a temporary evacuation center.
