Imperial Enterprises has released gold and silver coins commemorating the 35th anniversary of the “Hokutosei” sleeper express. The gold coin is priced at 307,780 yen, the silver coin at 76,780 yen, and the set of two at 384,560 yen. The gold coins are limited to 500 pieces and the silver coins are limited to 1,988 pieces.
The “Hokutosei” is a blue train (sleeper train) that ended its regular service in 2015, marking the 35th anniversary since it began service in 1988. The gold coin depicts a DD51 diesel locomotive and the silver coin depicts an EF510 electric locomotive in the lead.
Issued as coins of the Cook Islands in the South Pacific, the denominations are 50 Cook Island dollars for the gold coins and 10 Cook Island dollars for the silver coins. Both single pieces and sets will be shipped in a special case.
