LTIR will hold the grand opening of “miffy café tokyo,” a café themed on the world of Miffy’s picture books, on November 11.

Located at 19-4 Daikanyama-cho, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, the permanent store is on the first floor of a building adjacent to Daikanyama Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line, with a total floor space of 71.34m2, and a large Miffy objet d’art welcomes visitors on the wooden deck in front of the store.

Miffy,” a little bunny girl, is the main character in picture books created by Dick Bruna, a picture book author and graphic designer born in the Netherlands. The new store will focus on Miffy’s picture books, and will be located in Daikanyama, Tokyo, which has an affinity with the beautiful natural environment of Utrecht, where Bruna was born and raised, based on the concept of “a cafe where you can feel and experience Miffy’s art along with food. The concept is “a café where you can feel and experience Miffy’s art along with food.

The logo, main visual, and store design, which evokes the “square shape” of a picture book, were created by creator Kashiwa Sato, who says he was greatly influenced by the Bruna picture books he encountered as a child. The design is based on the “Usako-chan” quartet, the origin of Miffy’s first picture book, and is said to have created a space for adults where classic and new elements coexist.

Inside the restaurant, you can enjoy a cute-looking food and beverage menu. The grand menu includes three types of sandwiches (1,290 yen to 1,390 yen each) with vegetables, chicken, uncured ham, eggs, and other ingredients on Miffy-shaped bread, a plate of Dutch home-style Elten soup and meatballs stewed in tomato cream (1,990 yen), a kids’ plate (1,190 yen) etc.

The sweets menu includes carrot cake (1,390 yen), tart with seasonal fruit (1,490 yen), baked sweets and drink set (390 yen), and four types of original drinks (990 yen each) inspired by picture book characters.

Some items, such as “Face Financier” (1,390 yen for 4 pieces), cookies (390 yen per piece), and cafe latte (790 yen) in the shape of Miffy’s face are also available for takeout.

In particular, the Faith financier is one of the signature products, and two types can be enjoyed: plain with burnt butter flavor and caramel with a slightly salty flavor. Since they are baked in the store, the fragrant smell wafts all the way to the station.

The cafe also sells a variety of original Miffy goods. The lineup includes “cushion key holders” (6 types, 990 yen each), “cloth coasters” (3 types, 660 yen each), “flat pouches” (1650 yen), and “tote bags” (2750 yen).

The bookshelf-like display of goods and the atmosphere of the interior are also points to be photographed.

In addition, to commemorate the grand opening, a limited edition of 300 “figurcots” will be on sale. Neither a plush toy nor a figure, each figurcot is handmade and measures approximately 51 cm in length (the actual figurcot is on display in the store).

The price is 95,700 yen per unit, with a serial number on the back of the body. Orders will be taken at the “miffy café tokyo” online store at 8:30 a.m. on November 11, the first day of the opening.

The opening hours of “miffy café tokyo” in Daikanyama, Tokyo, are from 8:30 to 20:20 (irregular holidays). The restaurant accepts advance reservations on its official website (660 yen per person as a reservation fee, up to 4 seats per application), and those who visit the store with an advance reservation and order from the menu will receive a limited edition “can badge” as a present (one of your favorite pattern from a total of 16 types).
