Nara Prefecture booth, a corner to experience serving popular shaved ice specialty store “onna wa utsuwa”. You can taste a luxurious cup of shaved ice that melts in your mouth!

Tourism Expo Japan 2023 Osaka-Kansai, one of the world’s largest travel events, is being held at INTEX Osaka (Suminoe-ku, Osaka City) for four days from October 26 to 29.

The Nara Prefecture Joint Exhibition Project booth will feature “onna wa utsuwa,” a popular shaved ice specialty store in Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture. Visitors can experience making their own shaved ice. The price is 1,000 yen per cup.

Based on the concept of “beauty shaved ice,” onna wa utsuwa has devised a recipe that is both tasty and good for the body, using a variety of ingredients including cream, sauce, fruit, nuts, and other toppings. Of course, the ice is also imported from manufacturers in the prefecture, and the ice is shaved so that it is soft and fluffy so that it does not give you a headache when you eat it.

In recent years, shaved ice stores that are a bit more luxurious and gourmet have become popular, but shaved ice actually originated in Nara Prefecture. There are numerous stores that focus on seasonal fruits and delicious ice.

At the “onna wa utsuwa” experience corner, where visitors can experience the food culture of Nara Prefecture, shave ice and place it roundly in a bowl, then freely top it with caramel sauce, red potato sauce, crushed pie, apple compote, etc. hand-made at the store. Visitors can enjoy their original shaved ice on the spot.
