Rakuten Travel, Inc. held the “Rakuten Travel National Inn Signboard Dog Ranking” to determine the best signboard dog in Japan, and the ranking was determined from votes by Rakuten members.

Signboard dogs were entered from 42 lodging facilities across Japan. Gina” from “Angel Forest Shirakawa Kogen” in Fukushima Prefecture was selected first place out of approximately 6,000 votes. Konasu” from Hotel Epinal Nasu in Nasu Onsen, Tochigi Prefecture, came in second, followed by “Stella” from Asanebo Pension in Mizukami Onsen, Gunma Prefecture, in third place.

Gina” is a Great Pyrenees who has been the facility’s advertising manager for six years; this is the second time she has come out on top, having also won first place five years ago. With her fluffy fur, she can do anything as long as there are treats! And they are good at taking commemorative photos too! The catchphrase for this entry was “I can do anything as long as I have treats!

KONASU” is a golden retriever with an innocent personality; it has been ranked in the top three for eight years in a row since 2016. His cute expression that looks as if he is smiling is his charm point, and his friendliness to cheerfully greet guests has also contributed to his popularity.

Stella” is a golden retriever who will turn 11 years old this year. Her catchphrase is “No matter how old she gets, she’s still a sweetheart! and her appearance of gently cuddling up to guests to be petted by them, even though she is a mother dog, is gaining popularity as a soothing sight. At the facility, visitors can meet four golden retrievers, including Stella.
