JAL to Sell International Ferry Flights on Retired Boeing 777 by Drawing Lottery for Overseas Tours

Posted on October 25, 2023 by News Admin

JAL and JALPAC will hold a lottery to sell overseas tours that allow passengers to board retired aircraft for sale ferry flights.

The Boeing 777-200ER (registration code: JA703J), which will be retired in mid-November after 21 years of operation by JAL on domestic routes, will be the last Boeing 777-200ER in JAL’s fleet.

JA703J, which has been active on domestic flights, will return to international commercial operations for this tour only. Originally ferried to California for sale, this time the last flight will be switched to a one-way charter operation, allowing “farewell” boarding on the flight to the U.S.

The aircraft will fly a special route over the state of California. Low-pass (low altitude) flights will also be conducted over the Southern California Logistics Airport in Victorville, a well-known aircraft storage site, allowing visitors to view aircraft from all over the world as they lie in the desert from above.

During the stay, the tour will also include a dinner with JAL flight crew and special sightseeing for aviation enthusiasts. In addition, a different point of interest from the previous tour will be a ground tour of the low pass near the Southern California Logistics Airport, which will be the last time a JAL aircraft will be seen in flight.

There are two types of courses: 3-day and 5-day. Round-trip economy class fares for the 3-day course are 529,000 yen for a standard seat and 559,000 yen for a window seat.
