In conjunction with the 35th anniversary of the opening of the Seikan Tunnel, JR Hokkaido and JR East will launch the “Otodate Tokudate Value Special (with boarding ticket),” which offers a 50% discount on the Tohoku and Hokkaido Shinkansen Hayabusa and Hayate, and the “Otodate Tokudate Value (with boarding ticket),” which offers a 40% discount on the JR Hokkaido Limited Express Hokuto for local trains.
The period of use is from December 13 to 25, and is limited to Ekinet members only. Both tickets are for reserved seats in ordinary cars, and will be on sale from 10:00 a.m. one month prior to the boarding date until 1:50 a.m. 20 days prior to the boarding date.
For example, the basic fare for the Hayabusa from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station to Tokyo Station is 23,230 yen (train ticket + reserved-seat express ticket) for the regular term, but is discounted by 50% to 11,610 yen. The regular price for the Hokuto limited express train from Sapporo (city) to Shin-Hakodate Hokuto Station is 5,660 yen, a 40% discount from the regular price of 9,440 yen (train ticket + reserved seat express ticket).
During the period, events such as “Hakodate Christmas Fantasy” (December 1-25) and “SENDAI Pageant of Light” (December 8-25) will also be held.
