On October 11, JICA Vice President Junichi Yamada met with Mr. Chimed Hrelvatal, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Development of Mongolia, in the presence of Mr. Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia, during his visit to Mongolia.

At the outset, Deputy Prime Minister Hreruvatar expressed his gratitude for the significant contribution that JICA’s past assistance has made to Mongolia’s development. He also mentioned the country’s progress in fiscal reforms and monetary policy initiatives, and noted the recovery of the economic situation and the growing passenger demand for the new Ulaanbaatar International Airport, which Japan helped to build.

In response, Vice President Yamada expressed JICA’s commitment to support the Mongolian government’s financial reform efforts. In addition to strengthening the capacity of government agencies, he noted that an improved investment environment between the two countries would lead to growth through private investment, which the Mongolian government is promoting, and expressed his expectations for the Mongolian government.
