On October 18, JATA (Japan Association of Travel Agents) gave an overview of Tourism Expo Japan 2023 Osaka-Kansai, one of the world’s largest travel events, which is just around the corner.

The exhibition will run for four days from October 26 to 29, with the first two days being industry days and the second half being open to the public. The venue is INTEX Osaka (1-5-102 Nanko-Kita, Suminoe-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture), and buildings 2 through 6 will be used (buildings 1 through 6 in 2019). The organizers are the Japan Tourism Organization (JTA), the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), and the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).

The number of booths exceeded the target of 1,245, with more than 1,400 booths (620 domestic, 480 overseas, and 300 other) and more than 70 countries and regions participating. The number of participating companies and organizations is more than 1,000. The expected number of visitors is 150,000.

Admission is free on industry days (pre-registration required), 800 yen in advance on general days (pre-registration required), and 1,300 yen at the door. Admission had previously been free for junior high and high school students upon presentation of a student ID card, but from this year, admission is also free for university and vocational school students.

The venue layout is also open to the public. In addition to the well-known domestic and international booths, there will be the “Osaka/Kansai Future Zone” with booths related to the Osaka/Kansai Expo, “Special Corners” for cruise, adventure tourism, sports tourism, etc., and “Special Areas” for drive tourism, work vacation, starry sky tourism, etc. There will also be a “All-Japan Gotochi Donburi Championship – Extra Edition” (no voting this time), where visitors can enjoy a bowl of donburi for 800 yen per bowl, and a food court where visitors can enjoy Osaka’s flour-based cuisine and other foods from Japan and other countries.
