LINE Yahoo! JAPAN has added a “Wind Radar” function to the iOS version of its Yahoo! JAPAN app, which has been available for the Android version since April and is now also available for the iPhone.
This function indicates wind speed and direction with an animation of flowing lines on a map and a color distribution map, and also provides a graph showing the transition of wind speed and direction at selected points. When strong winds are expected, messages such as “Watch for slightly strong winds” or “Watch for strong winds from around 19:00” can be displayed according to the strength of the wind.
The service will also enable measures for outdoor activities, including camping and barbecues, and will reduce the risk of wind-related accidents and sudden cancellations that were previously unseen.
