JAL’s International A350-1000, New Seats in All Classes + 4K Monitors. Finally going into service by the end of the year.

Posted on October 6, 2023 by News Admin

On October 2, JAL announced details of its new flagship Airbus A350-1000 aircraft for international flights. The aircraft was originally scheduled to enter service in late November, but due to delays in the delivery of parts and other factors, the schedule has been changed to the end of this year. The route to be served remains the same, Haneda-New York (JL005/006).

The interior of the aircraft is designed with traditional Japanese beauty in mind, incorporating the interior of the A350-900 aircraft already in service on domestic routes and the domestic specification Boeing 787-8 aircraft. All classes of seats have been redesigned, with a total of 239 seats, including 6 first class seats, 54 business class seats, 24 premium economy seats, and 155 economy seats.

First and business class seats are private-occupancy seats with doors. Both seats are equipped with the world’s first speakers built into the headrest, allowing passengers to enjoy movies and music without headphones.

First Class has a maximum seat width of approximately 123 cm, a maximum bed length of approximately 203 cm, and the luxury of three selectable modes: “sofa,” “seat and single bed,” and “double bed. Business Class has a maximum seat width of approximately 56 cm and a maximum bed length of approximately 198 cm.

Premium Economy is the first class in the world to adopt an electric reclining mechanism. A large pull-out partition allows passengers to maintain their privacy.

All classes also feature 4K-resolution personal monitors and support Bluetooth connectivity. Passengers can use their own headphones or earphones. A system that allows passengers to create a list of their favorite movies and music on the JAL app in advance for easy playback on board is also planned (from spring 2024).
