Vocalist Kotone’s Music Journey] First live performance in Buenos Aires for the fourth time! Despite the troubles, we had new discoveries and encounters!

Guest Appearance at a Live Performance by Argentinean Artists, Duo Do And this time, I was a guest performer at a live performance by Duo Do, a male-female musical unit in Buenos Aires. They are two people who love Japan, and although they live in Buenos Aires, they are actively performing in Japan as well. Through a chance encounter with vocalist Kure-chan and guitarist San-chan, we were able to connect with them for this live performance. The “Do” in “Duo Do” is “Do” for “way” and refers to the infinite “way” of learning art. Believing in the power of music to transcend language barriers, I strongly sympathized with the two musicians who are active outside of Argentina as well, and this collaboration was born. The venue was a library! The event was called “Musica entre libros (Music in a book),” and admission was free, and there were pies with South American fillings (empanadas), wine, and beer for sale. There was a large crowd at the venue, and we started off with just the two members of Duo Do. I joined them and performed my original song “Dulce de leche”. Dulce de leche is Argentina’s caramel jam, a popular national snack. It is similar to “anko” (bean paste) in Japan. The dulce de leche is a sweetheart, and the song says, “I can’t live without you, I love you, but it’s not all good things. If I eat too much, I get fat, but I don’t care. Give me another one!” And so on. The Spanish lyrics were well received, and the audience laughed along with the singing. After the fun stage performance with Duo Do, everyone enjoyed beer and wine, and at the end, a commemorative photo was taken with the performers and staff. When it was decided that I would return to Japan after the Corona Disaster, I was depressed because everything I had prepared for my study abroad had come to a halt. I never thought that the day would come when the people of Buenos Aires would be pleased with the songs I wrote at that time. This trip will be for about two months, from Buenos Aires to around Europe. I am now looking forward to what encounters and sights I will encounter again in the future.
